Multi‑agency rescue after vessel driven onto Grays Rock
Emergency crews from Marblehead, Salem and Beverly responded to a serious boating incident on the ledge known as Grays Rock shortly after 11pm on 6 August, rescuing six adults and bringing them to shore for further treatment, public safety officials have confirmed.
The incident, which occurred in the late evening, saw a recreational boat driven onto the coastal hazard. Harbormasters from the three towns were first on scene at Grays Rock, and the Marblehead Fire Department proceeded from State Street Landing to assist. By the time firefighters reached the landing two occupants had already been recovered from the water and brought to the dock.

Rescuers secured them and brought them aboard the harbormaster vessel where emergency care began during the return to State Street Landing, where Beauport Ambulance crews awaited.

The Beverly harbormaster secured another occupant and transported them to the landing, while the Salem harbormaster returned two further occupants with apparently minor injuries after confirming that everyone involved had been accounted for. Marblehead police officers assisted Beauport Ambulance personnel in transferring and securing the injured from the dock to waiting ambulances for conveyance to local hospitals.
