A well-known regional retailer is preparing to open a 10,300 sq ft store at Beverley’s Flemingate centre later this year, bringing new shopping choice and around 25 full- and part-time roles to the town.
New arrival for Flemingate
Yorkshire Trading Company, which operates 34 outlets across the north and east, has committed to one of the biggest units at Flemingate, the retail and leisure destination owned and run by Hull-based regeneration specialist Wykeland Group. The company says the store should open in the coming weeks and recruitment for the Beverley team is already under way.
The chain stocks a wide range of household essentials, DIY items, clothing, garden products and toys — a mix that will sit alongside Flemingate’s existing national and independent operators. The move further solidifies Beverley’s role as a retail hub for parts of East Yorkshire and beyond.
“Beverley is a location we've been looking at for many years. It's a traditional market town, with a strong sense of community – we've just been waiting for the right unit, in the right place, to become available.”

For a town best known for its market, Minster and historic streets, the arrival of a larger regional retailer is a statement of confidence. Flemingate — already a mixed-use development combining shops, leisure and public space — continues to attract tenants that serve both town residents and visitors from surrounding villages.
Yorkshire Trading Company’s expansion in Beverley also builds on its existing network in the region, with stores in places such as York, Ripon, Skipton, Whitby, Knaresborough and Malton. The company says Beverley complements its locations to the north in Bridlington and Driffield and to the south-east in Louth and Skegness.
